Hotter than Hell

I’m writing this post from a hostel in Cartagena.

Temperatures hit 32°C (90°F) today which is just about the point where my pale skin begins to bubble. Fortunately, I’ve found shade (and cover from the dodgy street sellers) and figured it was about time I wrote a blog post with the latest news. Read more

How To Get Amazon Reviews For Your First Book

I REALIZE IT’S BEEN A WHILE since I wrote anything remotely related to authoring. Yeah. It’s a word.

So, I wanted to take a moment to explain what I do to get reviews for my books.

What triggered this particular post was reading the RTE best reads of the year by Sinead Crowley. Some of the listed books are probably wonderfully written (certainly if you judged by the glowing testimonials by critics) but it’s a little depressing to see that they’ve received so few reviews, especially in the much bigger US market. Oh Yeah. That Marketing Thing.

IMG-20180807-WA0003SO, I RELEASED A NEW NOVEL TODAY.

My fifth. Can you believe that?

I haven’t done too much in the way of promotion, because, well…I’ve done that in the past, thrown a lot of money at it, and didn’t get much return on the old investment of either time or energy.

Instead, I’m employing a slightly different method – one that I think many indie authors might be better served doing (instead of gaming algorithms and what not).

Write a bloody good book.

Yep. That’s about it.

Best marketing you can have is when people freely refer it to their friends without your prodding them in the back. Read more

Child’s Play (A Short Story)

In a school yard, a group of kids dressed in uniform were huddled together in a ring, looking over the shoulders of two boys in the centre. They were kneeling, staring at one another from opposite ends of a chalk circle drawn on the ground.

One of the boys – a ruddy bruised face and shiny black hair the colour of beetle skin – slid off his knees and got to his feet.

“How you wanna set them up?” Read more

Sigil is Free. That is All. For Now…

Site.SigSHORT UPDATE TO ANNOUNCE that my Irish based thriller SIGIL is free to download via Amazon US/UK for the next couple of days.

It features the Catholic Parish priest Fr Tom Regan in what I can now officially confirm is his FIRST outing (more on that shortly).

A suicide in the small sleepy village of Ballygorm raises Regan’s suspicion.

But he’s alone in his scepticism. Using his amateur sleuthing he uncovers foul play and finds that in the outwardly pious and tight-knit community, they are hiding a killer in a village where everyone’s a suspect.

I wrote this back in 2016 while I was in Medellin, Colombia.

I’ve actually come full circle and am back here again, and Regan too! I’m letting him off the leash for a second adventure at the end of this month.

Really excited to be telling you more about YAGE soon.

Anyway, you can get your hit of Regan on the following links:

Amazon UK

If you have read it, enjoyed it and not yet left a review – it’s SUPER EASY to do so. Just scroll down until you see the reviews and hit ‘Write a Customer Review’.

Couldn’t be easier and you’d be doing me a huge favour too. More reviews typically help with my marketing efforts and reaching a bigger audience.

It also plasters a big shit grin on my face for a solid 24 hours.
