WHILE I WAIT for my editor to provide feedback on my third novel (Raising Lazarus), I decided to work on a little side project.
This will be my third short story. I had a lot of fun with this one! It is Part 1 of what will be a collection of dark short stories which I’ve entitled – ‘The Rot Collection‘.
The first part is called, ‘Origin of the Feces‘.
Here’s the blurb:

Rod3dedited

Ray Jones isn’t like other tooth fairies.
He curses too much. Enjoys snorting fairy dust.
And recently, he’s been tearing teeth out of kids’ mouths for profit.
He’ll tell you it’s because ofย The Rot.
Then again, he’ll tell you anything to avoid walking the plank.
This is his story.

It is available for pre-order now and costs a measly 99c/p.
You can find it on the following links:
–ย Amazon US
Amazon UK
…and all other Amazon territories.

  1. I am currently in book #4 and I have to admit, I’ve laughed so hard- one night I woke my husband it was so funny! The premise is hilarious and I am loving every minute!

      1. Well thanks. Have been exploring going back into full time education as well as writing myself. Not sure where it all will lead as yet though. Can I ask how you got such a great cover? Do you have a designer make it for you?

        1. For this particular one? This is the only one out of the 5 I have, which I made myself believe it or not. Because it’s not a novel, and priced at only a dollar, I didn’t want to incur a big expense. I was also interested in the creative process. I used canva.com, and had an image in my head. The tooth that you see? That cost 10 dollars from their stock collection to purchase. The rest was me adjusting a few dials. Fairly straightforward. You should definitely write something. It’s a great feeling of achievement! What were you thinking? Also, I’ve used covers from goonwrite.com in the past – namely for Spectrum, Pathfinders and Crystal Clear.

          1. Thanks for that, will take a look. I was amazed to discover the other day that you can create respectable covers in MS Word. I actually have a finished draft (kind of a comic sci-fi)which I’m hoping to get on the Kindle store once it is polished and they explain the tax business to me (being an ex-pat who in essence becomes self-employed is a touch complex) ๐Ÿ˜„

          2. Oh, I’ll have to keep an eye out for that! With the covers…it can be so easy to make a dogs dinner of it. I’m far from being an expert, but you’re dead right. Also, pre-made covers can retail at 50 bucks so it’s not that big of an investment, especially if you’ve taken the countless hours to write something. Guess it depends on whether you wanna get your hands dirty or not ๐Ÿ™‚

          3. Amen to that. I think to being with something new that seems complex can be a bit of a turn off. So better to do a bit of digging about and try and break it into smaller pieces that make more sense. I would never have thought that font choice pertaining to genre would have mattered (as an example)…an interesting sojourn into human perception!
